Job summary

Luminant Generation Company LLC in Hazleton, PA is seeking a Plant Operator to manage start-ups, shut-downs, alarms, and preventive maintenance from the control room. The role supports safe, reliable operation of the Hazelton Power Plant with opportunities for progression to levels I–IV.

Requirements include 2–4 years of related experience, a high school diploma or GED, basic computer skills, and strong communication. Applicants must complete the POSS/MASS program to be considered.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of related experience.
• Satisfactory completion of Tier 1 job performance measures covering Operations, Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrument and Controls.
• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Demonstrate standard computer based skills.
• Demonstrate effective oral & verbal communications skills.
• If applicable, candidate must meet the requirement of PT1-E.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, repairs, and maintains plant equipment and systems.
• Operates, monitors, and controls plant status from the Control Room.
• Executes plant shut-downs and start-ups, responds to alarms and issues.
• Coordinates maintenance and aligns with current plant conditions and commitments.
• Promotes safety, health and environmental procedures (Lockout Tagout, JSA, Confined Space, Hot Work, PPE).
• Trains others in area of expertise and performs technical analyses.
• Gains knowledge of the entire plant cycle and its function.
