Job summary

Merck & Co. in Rahway, NJ seeks a Powerplant/Watch Engineer to observe and operate all utilities distribution systems and turbo-generators across the site.

You will monitor boilers, water treatment equipment, and associated auxiliaries, ensuring proper chemistry and safe operation under supervision. Responsibilities include operating turbine room switchgear, testing boiler chemistry, and maintaining cGMP documentation while working a rotating 8-hour shift schedule.

Qualifications

• New Jersey Blue Seal 3rd Class Engineers (1-C) license is required.
• Previous powerplant operating experience is required.
• Ability, fitness, and skill are essential.

Responsibilities

• Observe and operate outside utilities distribution systems to provide services site-wide.
• Operate turbine generators and turbine room switchgear.
• Manage water conditioning equipment including RO, deionizers, polishers, filters, UV and ozone systems.
• Test and adjust heater and boiler chemistry for proper operation.
• Maintain 900#, 135# steam boilers and auxiliaries under supervision.
• Follow cGMP and documentation requirements.
