Job summary

Calpine, a leading generator of electricity, is seeking an Operations & Maintenance Technician on a union shift basis at our on-site Bethlehem facility. You will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment including gas and steam turbines, HRSGs, compressors, and pumps while strictly following safety and environmental rules.

You will support plant management and participate in routine data logging and equipment checks.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or a combination of experience and education.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Demonstrate knowledge of all facets of power plant operations; ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations; capable of writing procedures and training site personnel.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and P&IDs; write routine reports; solve practical problems; communicate tasks clearly.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the proper operation of the power facility while on shift.
• Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs mechanical and electrical equipment such as gas turbine, steam turbine, HRSG, gas compressor, air compressors, motors, and pumps.
• Operates and inspects equipment; uses maintenance procedures and manuals; supports computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Performs capital project and/or major program responsibilities as assigned by Plant management.
• Opens/closes valves and circuit breakers as required for system operation and isolation.
• Records maintenance actions on Work Order forms; works shifts and overtime as needed.
