Job summary

Con Edison is seeking a Mechanic B at our New York facilities to perform electrical, welding, or mechanical maintenance on power plant components and equipment.

This role includes installing and repairing piping systems, motors, transformers, and rotating machinery, with a path to become Mechanic A; candidates must be prepared for overtime and to obtain NY asbestos licenses. A HS diploma and 3 years of relevant experience are required. A valid driver’s license is also expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED with 3 years of power plant experience.
• Knowledge of confined space entry, pipe fitting, boiler tube repair and welding.
• Welding certification/license and NEC knowledge; NYS/NYC asbestos licenses required.

Responsibilities

• Pursue career path to qualify as Mechanic A.
• Maintain, repair, and install power piping systems and rotating equipment.
• Read schematics and use test equipment to troubleshoot electrical components.
• Drive company vehicle to work locations.
• Obtain NY asbestos licenses.
• Work weekends and OT as needed.
