Job summary

Vistra’s Ontelaunee Plant in Reading, PA is seeking a Power Plant Technician to operate, monitor, and control plant systems from the Control Room. You will execute shutdowns/starts, respond to alarms, and coordinate with maintenance to ensure safe, reliable operation.

Requirements include 2–4 years in power plant operations, a high school diploma or GED, and strong computer and communication skills. The role demands the ability to work under pressure and pass POSS/MASS pre-employment testing.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of related experience in power plant operations.
• Power plant experience preferred.
• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Strong computer-based skills and ability to read instrumentation/readouts.
• Effective oral and verbal communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist/perform troubleshooting of plant equipment and preventive/corrective maintenance.
• Maintain equipment at the plant and perform repairs, overhauls, and replacements as needed.
• Operate and monitor control room systems, respond to alarms, and coordinate with maintenance.
• Complete safety checks and follow Lockout/Tagout and other procedures.
• Read instrumentation readouts and support safe, efficient plant operations.
