Job summary

Vistra’s Ontelaunee Plant in Reading, PA seeks a Control Room Operator to oversee operations from the control room, including startups, shutdowns, and responding to alarms. You will coordinate maintenance activities and ensure safe, reliable plant performance. Prior power plant experience and the POSS/MASS program are required.

The role requires strong troubleshooting, communication, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Training and safety protocols are emphasized.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of related experience.
• Power plant experience preferred.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Must pass POSS/MASS pre-employment testing.
• Must pass respirator physical and fit test.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and control power plant systems from the control room.
• Execute plant shutdowns and startups and respond to alarms.
• Coordinate maintenance with field staff and monitor plant conditions.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment.
• Adhere to safety, health, and environmental procedures including LOTO and JSA.
