Job summary

NAES is seeking a Control Room Operator for the Sandy Creek Energy Station in Riesel, Texas. The CRO monitors and controls plant systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient power generation, responding to alarms and coordinating start-up and shutdown procedures.

The role involves overseeing plant systems, issuing operational controls, coordinating with APOs, supporting maintenance, and documenting logs while adhering to LOTO and safety rules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree in power plant technology or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of two years of Control Room Operator or equivalent operating experience in power generation or a comparable facility is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of power plant equipment and systems, including boilers, steam turbines, generators, pumps, electrical equipment, water treatment, and balance-of-plant systems.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, single-line diagrams, schematics, control logic, operating procedures, and other plant technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Operate and oversee plant systems and equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with operating procedures and safety requirements.
• Execute plant start-up, normal operation, shutdown, and emergency procedures while responding to alarms and abnormal conditions.
• Respond to dispatch instructions for electrical, steam, and fuel while maintaining plant operating conditions.
• Evaluate plant performance and equipment status; identify problems and initiate corrective actions.
• Take emergency actions to maintain electrical service and protect personnel and equipment.
• Administer and issue equipment tag-outs per LOTO and safety requirements.
• Provide direction to Assistant Plant Operators for field activities and adjustments.
• Participate in preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Document operating activities and communicate issues to the Shift Supervisor.
• Use technical docs to support troubleshooting and safe operation.
