NAES operates Sandy Creek Energy Station near Riesel, Texas, seeking an Auxiliary Plant Operator to monitor equipment, log readings, and support maintenance under supervision. The role emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and efficient plant operation in a coal-fired facility.

Responsibilities include conducting rounds, reporting abnormalities, assisting with emergency response, and coordinating with maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree in power plant technology or related field is preferred.
• Experience in a power plant or industrial operating environment is preferred, especially in an Auxiliary Plant Operator or similar role.
• Knowledge of plant systems, including pumps, motors, valves, boilers, water treatment, coal/ash handling, and emission-control equipment.
• Ability to read plant drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Familiarity with industrial safety practices, including confined-space work and hazardous-energy control.

Responsabilités

• Follow safety procedures (LOTO, PPE) and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct routine rounds and inspections to monitor operating conditions and report deficiencies.
• Monitor pumps, motors, valves, water treatment, cooling, coal/ash handling, and emission-control equipment.
• Record readings, maintain logs, and prepare clear reports on equipment status.
• Report abnormal conditions to the Shift Supervisor and communicate with the CRO.
• Carry out operating instructions and adjustments per procedures and directions.
• Assist with emergency response and recovery to protect personnel and equipment.
• Support preventive and corrective maintenance and coordinate with maintenance staff.
• Tag and isolate equipment as required and use hand/power tools and rigging equipment.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and operate plant vehicles/equipment as trained.
• Support safety, environmental compliance, efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.
