Job summary

Sandy Creek Energy Station, a 900‑megawatt coal‑fired plant in Riesel, Texas, seeks a Control Room Operator to monitor and control plant systems for safe, reliable power generation. You will respond to alarms and directives, start/stop sequences, and coordinate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.

The CRO works a rotating 12‑hour schedule with 24/7 coverage, performing log entries, equipment checks, and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associate degree in power plant technology or related field preferred.
• Minimum of two years of Control Room Operator or equivalent experience in power generation or similar facility preferred.
• Strong knowledge of power plant equipment and systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate and oversee plant systems and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Execute start-up, normal operation, shutdown, and emergency procedures; respond to alarms.
• Respond to dispatch instructions while maintaining generation and plant conditions.
• Document operations and communicate issues to Shift Supervisor.
• Interpret P&IDs and control documentation to support troubleshooting.
