Job summary

Alliant Energy is seeking a skilled operator to supervise safe plant operations and support the daily running of steam turbines and associated equipment. You will monitor gauges, perform start/stop cycles, and contribute to logs and reports.

The role emphasizes safety leadership, adherence to environmental and safety laws, and collaboration with the operations team to ensure reliable power generation. Training is provided for apprentice or journey level candidates.

Qualifications

• Ability to read P&ID’s, operating manuals and technical manuals.
• Mechanical aptitude and basic math for plant operations.
• Good verbal and written communication and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate leadership in safety and adhere to rules and practices.
• Operate boilers, turbines and auxiliary equipment for safe, efficient output.
• Start, inspect and shut down steam generating units and equipment.
• Record pressures, temperatures and flow, ensuring gauges show normal conditions.
• Prepare logs, reports and assist in training of employees.
• Follow Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures and participate in PM and maintenance.
