Job summary

Western Farmers Electric Cooperative seeks an Auxiliary Operator to assist in all phases of plant operation on rotating shifts. The role monitors and operates auxiliary equipment, performs basic maintenance, and may conduct plant lab tasks as directed.

Responsibilities include recording hourly readings, starting up and shutting down equipment safely, and reporting anomalies. A related degree and willingness to work long hours are preferred; driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in related field; one year of power plant ops experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals; write routine reports.
• Proficiency with basic math; ability to use a PC and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and record hourly readings for all auxiliary equipment and take corrective action as needed.
• Operate auxiliary equipment during startup, normal operation, and shutdowns under supervisor guidance.
• Maintain lubrication, air, water and gas supplies to equipment; monitor cooling water system.
• Report abnormal conditions to supervisor; perform minor maintenance on auxiliary equipment.
• Assist in training new personnel; perform lab, E&I maintenance or lab duties as assigned.
