Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Power Land Developer to advance powered-land opportunities across the portfolio, managing day-to-day development across 1–3 sites, including utility applications, interconnection studies, and schedule and budget implications. This individual contributor role will coordinate with engineering, land, environment, and community teams to drive readiness, milestones, and risk management.

The role translates study findings into actionable plans and collaborates to prepare handoffs

Qualifications

  • 6+ years in energy infrastructure, energy project development, site development, data center development, or related project delivery roles.
  • Strong understanding of utility coordination, interconnection processes, and development scheduling.
  • Experience managing multi-party workstreams across developers, utilities, consultants, and agencies.
  • Ability to track multiple complex sites concurrently and translate uncertainty into clear actions.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day advancement of powered-land opportunities from intake through readiness.
  • Own utility application and interconnection follow-through across active powered-land opportunities, including utility inputs, study responses, and queue milestones.
  • Scope and manage external studies and consultant workstreams needed to validate readiness.
  • Track development schedules, dependencies, risk registers, site-readiness milestones, and key budget implications.
  • Translate technical findings into clear schedule, budget, and risk implications and elevate material blockers or trade-offs to the Development & Power Project Lead.
  • Partner with land, environmental, economic development, and community affairs leads to align project advancement.
  • Support expansion planning, infrastructure sequencing, and long-term power-risk mitigation.
  • Define readiness criteria and prepare handoff packages for opportunities moving into deeper diligence or execution.
  • Help build repeatable playbooks for powered-land development across geographies.
