Job summary

OpenAI seeks a Site Selection Lead to set strategy for powered-land opportunities and to collaborate with cross-functional teams to define what makes a site attractive, executable, and scalable. You will translate a shared rubric into portfolio choices and deployment plans across priority geographies.

You will convene partners across Commercial, Legal, Finance, Power, and Development to shape terms, advance screening criteria, and develop top-site deployment plans with clear risks and owners.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in site selection, infrastructure development, data center development, energy development, or related field.
• Strong strategic judgment on market intelligence, portfolio construction, site viability, counterparty credibility, and prioritization.
• Ability to lead cross-functional organizations through ambiguous decisions and align technical, commercial, legal, and finance stakeholders.
• Commercial and financial fluency to connect site quality, deal terms, capital implications, schedule, and deployment risk.
• Experience building site funnels, screening frameworks, mapping or test-fit workflows, dashboards, and executive decision materials.

Responsibilities

• Own the site-selection strategy across priority geographies, including market maps and portfolio prioritization.
• Convene cross-functional partners to define a shared rubric for high-quality sites.
• Translate rubric into clear screening criteria across power readiness, land control, timing, scale, cost, and risk.
• Shape terms and funding assumptions with Commercial, Legal, Finance, Power, and Development teams.
• Build deployment plans for top candidates with capacity, sequencing, and risk ownership.
• Lead conceptual site planning and test-fit screening using maps, buildings, and utilities.
• Maintain a single decision-support view of pipeline, site health, and approvals.
• Present executive-ready recommendations with clear trade-offs and next steps.
