Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Controls Engineer to support a strategic customer in power infrastructure at our Richmond facility. You will design and program controls, develop wiring diagrams, and coordinate with engineering, purchasing, and operations.

The role requires PLC/HMI programming, AutoCAD Electrical proficiency, and adherence to UL 508A/NEC standards. Expect collaboration with cross-functional teams and on-site presence at least half the time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience designing industrial control panels and electrical systems.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical.
• Hands-on PLC and HMI programming experience.
• Experience developing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and BOMs.
• Knowledge of UL 508A, NEC, and applicable industrial safety standards.
• Ability to interpret technical specs and customer requirements.
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Support PDU, RPP, control panel, and integrated infrastructure module programs.
• Perform PLC and HMI programming for control panel and power distribution applications.
• Translate customer specifications and design requirements into an executable scope of supply.
• Develop and maintain bills of materials aligned with configurations and changes.
• Review designs for accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance.
• Identify long-lead components early in projects.
• Coordinate procurement to reduce lead times and support schedules.
• Serve as technical liaison between customer and internal teams.
• Assist with RFQs, estimates, and quotations with technical info.
• Support FATs, installation, and startup activities.
• Maintain engineering documentation and revision control.
