Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Electrical Engineer for our Industrial Business Unit in a hybrid role, based out of Idaho. The position focuses on designing and delivering complex power system projects, including substations and facility power systems, with collaboration across the firm’s engineering team.

You will conduct electrical studies and calculations, develop technical papers, and update design requirements while engaging with sales staff to boost project visibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline is required.
• 3 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Travel frequency contingent on duties and workload.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Create basic to moderately complex designs of electric master system plans, power systems, protection and generation models, facility power systems, and other electrical systems.
• Conduct studies and electrical calculations for power systems, lighting simulations, layouts, communications, fire alarm and security systems.
• Develop white papers and technical documentation to support knowledge management and submit designs for publication.
• Update design requirements as necessary.
• Attend conferences and symposia to improve visibility of products and services with sales staff.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Mentor junior team members through technical guidance and reviews.
