Job Summary
As part of our Microgrids North American capability built up, we are looking for an electrical team lead who has experience with medium voltage (MV) systems design, MV and LV products integration, lab testing as well as controls of power electronics devices. Preference would be given to a person who has medium voltage experience in business/ product/ solutions environment. Exposure to microgrids domain and/or complex systems is a plus. Having experience of integrating third party devices and maintaining relationships with third parties is beneficial.
In addition to serving as an individual contributor, this role will lead a highly skilled, agile team of local experts while coordinating closely with global teams to leverage their extensive knowledge base and capabilities. Success in this position requires seamless collaboration across regions and effective utilization of global resources.
This position is part of Delta’s broader Microgrid ecosystem. The workload is expected to be evenly split between team leadership (50%) and individual technical contributions (50%). The role involves local travel and occasional international travel.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead a team of experienced medium voltage and low voltage hardware experts and foster a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Manage short- and mid-term competency development plans aligned with local needs and global capabilities.
- Develop the team to become the recognized authority on medium voltage systems and solutions within Delta North America.
Collaboration & External Engagement
- Collaborate effectively with local and global teams to achieve common company objectives.
- Interface with system experts on the customer and utility side to ensure alignment and technical excellence.
- Leverage external resources and university partnerships to enhance innovation and knowledge sharing.
- Work effectively with partners and customers. A key part of the role is integration of third-party equipment and controls.
Technical Execution
- Design medium voltage systems through a building block/ LEGO approach
- Articulate the testing and validation plans and thereof the execution
- Handle obstacles along the way, especially those related to third party products.
- Build critical but nimble systems controls and integration capability in the team for systems testing, validation and improving performance
- Provide products and solutions architecture support
- Solutions techno-economic analysis
- Help the front end in the field as and when needed
- Leverage global teams, as needed, for own tasks and layout an effective project management strategy.
- Use of power hardware components knowledge to define, test and validate solutions
- Validate systems controls through hardware and/or hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Ensure quality of results and take ownership of progress and deliverables.
Capability Building
- Strengthen team expertise in medium voltage components, system design, solution validation, labs testing, system levels controls algorithm, and relevant third party/ partners’ products and solutions know-how.
Individual contribution
- Individually contribute to complex tasks and lead by example for approximately ~ 50% of the time
Key Qualifications
Education
- MS degree in Electrical Power Engineering (Ph.D. preferred).
Experience
- 10+ years of industrial experience in North America.
- Proven track record of managing complex, cross-regional projects and leading technical teams.
- Experience working in global team setups within large multinational organizations.
- Direct leadership experience or influence-based leadership in technical roles.
Domain Expertise
- In-depth knowledge of Medium Voltage systems, including:
- Medium Voltage Products Design
- Medium Voltage Testing and Labs experience
- Products Integration through simulations and labs testing
- Systems controls and protection basic know-how
- Systems Integration Skills that also expand to low voltage components
- Preferred experience in microgrid applications, especially with DER (Distributed Energy Resources).
- Understanding of labs safety, testing procedures and contingency analysis.
Industry Interaction
- Close collaboration experience with utilities and system-solution integrators.
- Ability to interface with customers and stakeholders on technical solutions.
Technical Skills
- Power electronics, power hardware and/or power electronics control in-depth analysis, design and testing
