Electrical Hardware Design Engineer - Power Management Systems

Sterling Heights, MI

Contract Position

$62.85-$67.85/Hour

Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. As a prime mover in ground force capabilities, this firm provides innovative solutions that ensure the safety and effectiveness of military personnel worldwide, focusing on durability, mobility, and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the electrical design and development of power management and distribution components and sub-systems for ground combat vehicles.

  • Support the design, modeling, simulation, integration, and testing of electrical power distribution and management hardware.

  • Derive and author component specifications, fabrication documents, and interface requirements.

  • Write and execute test requirements, plans, and procedures; generate detailed test reports.

  • Conduct vehicle integration and troubleshooting of electrical power systems.

  • Track and manage system performance metrics, including weight, cost, and power allocation.

  • Develop and maintain Technical Data Packages (TDPs) and release drawings per Engineering Release Plan (ERP).

  • Create and manage Statements of Work (SOW), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and other proposal documentation.

  • Lead source selection, evaluate supplier designs, track technical action items, and manage supplier communications.

  • Provide technical oversight to suppliers throughout design development and validation phases.

  • Prepare and present at formal design reviews and milestone checkpoints.

  • Conduct laboratory and vehicle-based engineering evaluations and support prototype builds and field issues.

  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines and interface with internal stakeholders including IPT leads, systems engineers, logistics, and manufacturing teams.

  • Support internal and customer reporting, ensuring alignment with company processes and program milestones.

  • Domestic travel may be required to support partner test locations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline is required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Must be a U.S. Person and eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with high-voltage electrical propulsion, power generation, and energy storage systems.

  • Experience with automotive or heavy-duty vehicle powertrain systems required; military land vehicle experience preferred.

  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation of 3D modeling data.

  • Familiarity with PLM systems (TeamCenter preferred), Cameo, and Capital Logic.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional environments.

  • Proven experience authoring technical documents and delivering effective oral presentations.
