About the role:The Specialist Power Hardware Engineer will retain responsibility for Electrical Hardware Design Engineering of Power Management and Distribution components and sub-systems to meet customer requirements and specifications for the delivery of TDP for ground combat vehicles.
Position Responsibilities:Tasks include but are not limited to:
- Support development, design, integration and build of electrical power distribution and management hardware/components.
- Support the modelling and simulation of power distribution and management systems.
- Derive and author electrical power hardware component development and/or design requirements/specifications, product fabrication documents and associated interface requirements.
- Write test requirements, test plans, and test procedures.
- Perform tests in the laboratory and in vehicles for power hardware and management systems and their associated power distribution hardware components and provide detailed test reports as required.
- Support vehicle integration of power distribution and management systems and associated hardware.
- Troubleshoot vehicle electrical power system problems.
- Gather technical information, analyze technical problems, develop and implement technical solutions.
- Develop alternative concepts and support or perform trade study analyses
- Track weight, cost, and power allocations
- Develop and maintain Technical Data Packages (TDPs); release drawings to the Engineering Release Plan (ERP)
- Prepare Statement of Work (SOW), Critical Item Development Specification (CIDS), Interface Control Document (ICD) and Source Selection Plan (SSP) for a Request for Proposal (RFP) to industry suppliers, or for other purposes as required.
- Perform source selection evaluation of supplier proposals.
- Manage supplier design progress, technical action item list, and transfer of engineering communication; interface with suppliers virtually and onsite; evaluate supplier cost quotes
- Provide technical oversight and direction to suppliers during design development and validation to ensure performance, test, and/or design requirements are being met
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports and proposals; prepare for and present at formal Design Reviews and support internal and external Milestones/Gateways.
- Conduct engineering evaluations in a laboratory environment
- Investigate, respond, and implement corrective action to Production, supplier or field issues
- Support prototype builds, create test plans, execute tests and create test reports to validate designs, mitigate risks and/or troubleshoot problems
- Work with other engineering disciplines to exchange technical information and give direction to designers and prototype shop personnel
- Plan, organize, and maintain records of progression to ensure successful completion of projects on schedule and within budget
- Develop plans and estimates for future projects (ROMs, BOEs, project plans, informal estimates) in response to customer and contractual requirements
- Interface with internal stakeholders including IPT lead, Physical Architect, Systems Engineers, Functional Leadership, Chief Engineer, Logistics, Manufacturing and attribute managers/stake holders.
- Support internal report out to program stakeholders, customers and organizational leadership.
- Derive final design pathways and refine to design release and approval using prescribed GDLS processes.
- Role is based at company facility but may require attendance at partner test locations within the USA
Position Requirements:- Must have a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline. Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of demonstrable experience with HV Electrical Propulsion, Generation and Storage systems.
- PLM experience using TeamCenter is advantageous along with knowledge of Cameo and Capital Logic.
- Experience in interrogation and manipulation of data hosted by 3D Modeling software.
- Automotive or Heavy-Duty vehicle and/or powertrain experience required. Military land vehicle experience preferred.
- Excellent data analysis skills are required.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and remotely is required.
- Mind-set to work collaboratively in a team environment for program success.
- Proven skills in the development of technical documents and oral communication.
- Must be a US Person and be able to secure a a security clearance.
