Job summary

Diamondback Energy is seeking a Power Generation Technician to support its generation assets, maximize uptime, and improve reliability. You will inspect fuel gas systems, monitor propane usage, and track outages, coordinating with Operations and vendors to return equipment to service.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of hands-on power generation experience, including oilfield exposure, and strong mechanical, troubleshooting, and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three to five years of hands-on power generation experience, including a minimum of two years in the oilfield.
  • Technical knowledge and proficiency in mechanical systems and preventive maintenance techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and remain eligible for coverage under the company’s insurance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain and troubleshoot generator fuel, air, cooling, electrical and control systems to support safe and reliable operations.
  • Interpret P&IDs, isometrics, and circuit diagrams to troubleshoot generators and generator support infrastructure.
  • Inspect generator fuel systems, including propane and natural gas supply, for leaks, proper valve positioning, and reliability issues across approximately 60 operating generation sites.
  • Monitor daily fleet propane consumption and address unexpected usage; manage monthly fuel gas sampling, quality tracking, and related corrective actions.
  • Coordinate generator inspections, maintenance, and repairs with Operations and vendors; verify completed repairs, document work, and close deficiencies.
  • Review inspection reports, test results, photos, and repair recommendations, and prioritize maintenance by equipment condition and reliability risk.
  • Track fleet runtime, downtime, and outage causes; identify recurring failures and recommend corrective maintenance.
  • Respond to outages and support troubleshooting, repair, and return to service.
  • Serve as Operations' primary contact for generator maintenance and reliability, providing updates on outages, deficiencies, inspections, and repairs document maintenance, equipment deficiencies, and hazards in Sphera.
  • perform all work safely in accordance with applicable company policies, safety procedures and regulatory requirements.

Job description

Summary

The Power Generation Technician supports Diamondback’s power generation assets to maximize uptime and reliability. This role inspects fuel gas systems for leaks and proper valve positioning, monitors daily fleet propane consumption to identify and reduce unnecessary usage, and tracks generator outages to support optimization efforts with vendors and Engineering. The Technician also serves as a resource to Production Operations for troubleshooting power generation assets and returning them to service.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of controls programming and parameter configuration
  • PLC programming experience
