Job summary

Interstate Power Systems in Lakeville, MN is hiring a Power Generation Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair diesel and natural gas generators, transfer switches and related systems. You will work on diverse projects, travel to job sites, and participate in on-call rotations to ensure reliable power for clients.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, 2+ years of experience, and strong knowledge of engines, electrical systems and control panels.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years experience as a Power Generation Technician or related field.
• Strong knowledge of diesel and natural gas engines, electrical systems and control panels.
• Willingness to travel to various job sites and work flexible hours, including on-call shifts.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on power generation equipment, including generators, engines, and control systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and electronic issues in generator systems.
• Conduct load bank testing, system upgrades, and installations as needed.
• Document service activities, including detailed reports on maintenance, repairs, and parts used.
• Respond to emergency service calls and provide on-call support as needed.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles in excellent working condition.
