Job summary

Interstate Power Systems is seeking a Power Generation Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair diesel and natural gas generators and related systems at on-site locations in Rapid City, SD. You’ll handle preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs to keep critical power systems running reliably.

The role requires strong technical skills, safety focus, and the ability to work independently or with a team. On‑call availability and travel to multiple sites are part of the job.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
• 2 years of experience as Power Generation Technician or related field.
• Knowledge of diesel and natural gas engines and control panels.
• Valid driver's license; CDL a plus.
• Willingness to travel and on-call shifts.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on power generation equipment including generators, engines, and control systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and electronic issues in generator systems.
• Conduct load bank testing, system upgrades, and installations as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and company protocols.
• Document service activities, including detailed reports on maintenance, repairs, and parts used.
• Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with clients to ensure exceptional service delivery.
• Respond to emergency service calls and provide on‑call support as needed.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles in excellent working condition.
