Job summary

Xcel Energy seeks engineering/technical students for a May–August internship to support planning of new generation projects and the Generation Development Team. You will assist in siting, equipment analysis, and cost estimation while developing risk management strategies and processes for project management.

Ideal candidates are ABET-accredited students in engineering or technical fields, available for full-time summer work (40h/week) with hybrid in-person duties.

Qualifications

• Currently a student, Sophomore or higher (as of Fall 2027).
• Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university pursuing a degree in any Engineering or Technical field.
• Minor travel opportunities to other Xcel Energy sites and existing generating facilities.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) and part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in siting of new generation locations.
• Support equipment analysis and selection.
• Perform financial estimating and cost analysis.
• Develop risk management strategies.
• Support regulatory filings and submittals.
• Help develop new processes and tools for project management.
