This role sits within the engineering team at a pioneering defense technology company developing advanced, software-defined directed energy systems to address emerging threats. The organisation is working across the full product development lifecycle, from early stage technology development and system design through to testing, deployment, and production, with a clear mission to deliver scalable, cost-effective solutions for modern defense challenges.

The ideal candidate is an experienced Power Electronics Design Engineer with a strong background in power distribution and electrification, capable of owning product development from initial concept through prototyping, validation, and productization.

In this role, you’ll work closely with a talented, multidisciplinary engineering team in a fast-paced environment to apply emerging technologies in innovative ways and rapidly develop new products. You will own systems integration efforts for a complex high-power electronic phased-array system, architecting and implementing electrical solutions for power distribution, communications, safety, and other system-level electrical requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Own electrical and power-distribution architecture for complex high-power systems.
• Lead product development through conception, prototype, testing, and productization.
• Design and integrate power distribution, communications, safety, and other electrical subsystems.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, systems, controls, manufacturing, and test engineers.
• Evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies to improve system performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and power-electronics issues throughout development and integration.
• Support rapid development cycles in a highly collaborative, fast-paced engineering environment.

Basic Qualifications:

• Degree in one of the following: Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering
• 8+ years of industry experience, preferably spanning the entire product lifecycle (concept to field deployment). Advanced degrees might be used in place of years of experience.
• Communication Skills: Ability to articulate and defend technical decisions, with clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledgeable with Jira/scrum best practices
