Job summary

Loud Solutions is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to own power systems and boards for defense-grade flight vehicles in California. You will oversee design, bring-up, validation, and production integration, delivering high-integrity hardware with hands-on control.

You will design DC-DC converters, inverters, motor controllers, and power distribution, with end-to-end ownership in a small avionics team. US citizen/Greencard holders only; visa sponsorship not available.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in power electronics design.
• Hands-on PCB design and bring-up.
• Experience with DC-DC converters, inverters, motor controllers, or power distribution.
• High voltage and high current power system design experience.
• Proficiency with Altium, SPICE, and MATLAB/Simulink.
• Ability to own full technical scope independently.
• Full-time; US citizen/Greencard holders only.

Responsibilities

• Design power electronics PCBAs including motor controllers, DC-DC converters, inverters, power distribution systems for current and future flight vehicles.
• Own the full lifecycle of your hardware, from schematic design through bring-up, debug, validation, and production integration.
• Define your own requirements and figure out the overall power system story in a system context; there are no separate systems engineers, you own it end-to-end.
• Work on high voltage and high current power systems for actuators, power filtering, and power bus sizing for mission-critical avionics.
• Potentially support ground systems power electronics alongside flight hardware development.

On behalf of our client, a fast-moving defense technology company building flight-critical systems for advanced flight vehicles, we're hiring a Senior Power Electronics Engineer with 3+ years of experience to design and own power systems and power electronics boards. You'll join a small, elite avionics team where engineers personally make hardware work, not just manage requirements or provide oversight.

This is a high-impact role where you'll own meaningful subsystems on the vehicle, from initial design through bring-up, debug, validation, and integration into production. Defense experience is not required; we value hands‑on circuit design talent from aerospace, automotive, robotics, or any hardware‑rich environment.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in power electronics design, from aerospace, automotive, robotics, or any hardware‑rich environment
• Strong background in PCB design and hands‑on bring‑up, debug, and integration
• Experience with DC-DC converters, inverters, motor controllers, or power distribution systems
• Experience with high voltage and high current power system design
• Proficiency with Altium, SPICE, and MATLAB/Simulink
• Comfortable owning full technical scope independently, without a dedicated systems engineering function
