Job summary

United Illuminating invites applications for an Engineer - Distribution & Infrastructure to support electric distribution infrastructure projects in Connecticut. The role involves basic to moderately complex engineering analyses, designs, and calculations for repair, replacement, maintenance, or new construction of distribution systems.

Work proceeds with guidance from a mentor. The engineer will develop design concepts, prepare drawings, and ensure adherence to industry standards and safety

Qualifications

BS/BA in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
2–5+ years’ experience performing engineering duties related to power delivery systems.
Technical drawing or Computer Aided Design experience required.

Responsibilities

Perform engineering analysis, design, and calculations for distribution infrastructure projects.
Develop and present design concepts, determine feasible options and action plans.
Prepare, review, and interpret drawings and schematics.
Apply design standards, codes, and procedures to projects.
Mentor junior engineers and review others' work for compliance.
