Overview

Distribution Engineering Technician

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Engineering Technician to join our team. The Power Distribution Engineering Technician will conduct field inspections and perform assignments related to the design and engineering of overhead and underground facilities of various voltage levels. The technician ensures compliance with client procedures, design standards, and regulatory requirements. They will work under the supervision of a Supervising Engineer and collaborate with engineers involved in distribution, transmission, substation, renewable energy, power storage, and communication projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist a Supervising Engineer and team of Engineering Technicians in completing projects for multiple clients across the U.S.
• Travel to project sites as needed for client interface, data collection, inspections, and returning to the office for design work.
• Participate in Power Delivery Design tasks such as One-Calls, permitting, right-of-way requests, procurement, and lower-level design activities.
• Understand deliverables required for each project, including construction plans, work notes, bills of materials, and permitting/ROW documents.
• Participate in reviews of designs before final submission.

Required Skills

• High School diploma with Vocational Tech School training in Electrical Construction or Electrician.
• Attention to detail and good communication skills.
• Professional attitude and openness to project planning and execution.
• Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining quality and accuracy.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Preferred Experience

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• Basic knowledge of overhead/underground power utility facilities and their integration.
• Experience with NESC, ASCE, and IEEE standards.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Pole Foreman, O-Calc, SPIDAcalc, GIS, IKE.
