Job summary

Applied Engineering in Burnsville, MN is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer – Power Distribution. You will lead electrical design for a product line redesign, developing schematics, wiring diagrams, one-lines, and layouts for power distribution equipment while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in electrical design for power distribution or electromechanical systems.
• Proficiency with electrical CAD tools for schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts.
• Experience interpreting customer specifications and site requirements to develop electrical system solutions.
• Familiarity with UL standards (UL 1008/508/1640).
• Experience with ERP/PLM/Vault for managing design documentation and BOMs.
• Project management experience preferred.
• Independent and team-oriented with strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Own electrical design activities for product line redesign.
• Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, one-lines, and layouts using CAD tools.
• Interpret customer specs and site requirements to create compliant solutions.
• Define specifications, components, and architectures for power distribution equipment.
• Produce documentation supporting manufacturing, testing, certification, and customer requests.
• Collaborate with SMEs, cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.
• Ensure designs meet safety, performance, manufacturability, and codes.
• Support certification including UL 1008, UL 508, UL 1640, NEC.
• Maintain documentation and BOMs in ERP, PLM, and Vault systems.
• Contribute to process improvements and design standardization.
• Participate in design reviews and on-site discussions.
• Work with suppliers and Applied partners.
• Contribute to community-impact projects in Minneapolis metro.
• Apply ownership and innovation in a dynamic environment.
