Job summary

Select Milk Producers is seeking a Packaging Operator to maintain proper packaging of dry product in 25kg bags and totes, operate and monitor automated filling systems, and ensure USDA-ready cleanliness.

The role involves inspecting for defects, labeling samples, keeping safe, following GMP, and supporting continuous improvement; High School diploma or GED required, Industrial Truck Operator License preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Must possess or be able to acquire an Industrial Truck Operator License.
• Ability to troubleshoot small problems and be able to discern when issues may require input from levels of authority within the corporation.
• Must be willing to ask for assistance when the process is unclear.

Responsibilities

• Package and stack 25kg bags and totes on pallets.
• Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards.
• Labeling and changing sample bags on auto sampler.
• Monitoring the production line, watching for problems such as pileups, jams, or glue that is not sticking properly.
• Inspecting and removing defective products and packaging material.
• Changing and sealing unacceptable bags of powder produced during the shift.
• Responsible for the general cleanliness of the packaging room and its equipment. The packaging room must remain USDA inspection ready at all times.
• Knowledge and understanding of filling equipment and maintaining pace consistent with the packing line.
• Reporting immediately to supervisor of any damage, irregular activity, or unsafe conditions concerning equipment.
• Aiding in the training of new personnel.
• Following all safety, work, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) rules.
• Support a company culture of continuous improvement by participating in efficiency and improvement efforts.
• Performing other duties as assigned by management.
