Cobb’s Poultry Selection Worker (Selection Trainee) position is based at Dry Creek Farm in Deer Lodge, TN. The role trains staff to select birds by age, conformation and traits, under direct supervision, supporting production goals.

Starting pay is $17.00 per hour with shift differentials for evenings, nights, and weekends. Cobb offers a comprehensive benefits package with day-one eligibility and a wide range of programs to support you and your family.

Qualifications

• Education: Must be able to read, write, and perform simple math skills.
• Must have valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Engage in the training of selection of approximately 2700 pedigree birds daily at designated age based on conformation, physical attributes, and other heritable traits.
• Trains on recording information on touch screen tablet such as genealogy, bird weight, mortality, defects and disposition; trains on manual recording of information such as bird weight, birds kept, number of birds selected, and birds sent to dissect.
• Trains on monitoring bird handling, bird transfer, bird welfare, and properly identifying the coop birds are assigned to; trains on monitoring selection numbers and percentages by line and sex.
• Washing/sanitizing approximately 100 coops daily via commercial pressure washer on wet/slick floors, maintain clean foot pans in assigned boot room, weekly sanitation of selection break room and all equipment used during selection process
