Job summary

Aviagen in Kentucky is seeking a Poultry Specialist to supervise all aspects of contract farms and ensure operations run safely and efficiently.

The role involves resolving grower conflicts, enforcing biosecurity, managing health and welfare, assisting with placements, vaccinations, and disinfection, and performing additional tasks as needed. A BS in Poultry Science or related field is preferred, along with basic computer skills and strong teamwork and communication abilities.

Qualifications

• BS in Poultry Science or related field (preferred).
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to calculate feed, manage and weigh birds, prioritize work schedules, solve problems relating to growth, performance, etc.
• Ability to work flexible hours including some weekends – on call 24 hours a day.
• Must be self-motivated with ability to perform tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
• Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Team-oriented.
• Current driver’s license.
• Two years of poultry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervising all aspects of contract farms
• Resolving contract grower conflicts
• Biosecurity, strain security, animal welfare, and health & safety are major responsibilities
• Assisting with placements, vaccinations, and disinfection
• May perform other tasks as deemed necessary by supervisor
