Job summary

The Salvation Army's Kroc Center in Omaha invites a Ceramics instructor to teach pottery, guiding hand-building, wheel throwing, glazing, and kiln operation while building student confidence. You will create curriculum, assessments, and foster partnerships within the community.

You will maintain a welcoming studio, ensure safety, and mentor students to develop their own artistic styles, skills, and enthusiasm for the ceramic arts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in fine arts or equivalent experience.
• Two years teaching experience required; five years preferred.
• Evidence of portfolio and curriculum development experience.
• Ability to work with children, parents and staff in leadership roles.
• English proficiency; Spanish helpful.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach pottery classes, including prep work and clean up.
• Run the kiln and ensure finished pieces reach participants promptly.
• Design and implement curriculum and assessment rubrics.
• Develop community partnerships for pottery programming.
• Participate in recruitment and outreach efforts.
• Instruct in proper care and use of tools and equipment.
• Attend staff meetings and teach additional classes as needed.
