Job summary

The City of Raleigh seeks a Pottery Studio Coordinator to support Pullen Arts Center’s pottery operations. You will load and unload kilns, document firings, mix glazes, and help maintain a clean, safe studio environment for both adult and youth classes.

Stay connected with students and volunteers, assist with newsletters and events, and coordinate clay deliveries and inventory while upholding safety standards. Weekend availability is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years experience working with clay.
  • 2+ years managing a pottery studio (home or community studio).
  • Understanding of wheel throwing and hand building techniques.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Professional oral and written skills.
  • High level of motivation, flexibility, and organization.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload student/patron pottery into/out of studio kilns safely and timely.
  • Document all firings; perform basic studio troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Mix studio glazes; keep studio clean and organized; assist with deliveries and inventory.
  • Create content for monthly studio newsletter; assist with studio socials planning and implementation.
  • Support instruction in adult and youth pottery classrooms; ensure safety in kiln/glaze/ outdoor kiln areas.
