Job summary

St. David's North Austin Medical Center seeks an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Obstetrics Emergency Department (OBED).

You will coordinate and provide patient care, perform initial assessments, and develop individualized care plans for mothers and newborns in a high-acuity setting. The role requires 1 year of RN experience, ADN or BSN (BSN preferred), Texas RN license, and per-policy certifications including NRP, BLS, and ACLS/ALS.

Qualifications

• 1 year of clinical nursing experience as an RN.
• Texas RN license or Compact license with TX license within 90 days of hire.
• NRP, BLS, ACLS/ALS required per policy.
• BSN not mandatory but preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform admission interview and document initial assessment.
• Identify changes in patient condition and report promptly to physician or charge nurse.
• Assess educational needs and provide instructions.
• Provide psychosocial support to patient and family.
• Facilitate interdisciplinary discharge planning.
• Administer medications accurately and document them legibly.
• Keep physician/Clinical Nurse Coordinator informed of significant changes.
• Continuously evaluate and modify the plan of care as needed.
• Deliver individualized nursing interventions and record responses.
