Job summary

Providence Health and Services is seeking a dedicated RN to join our postpartum lactation team as a Lactation Consultant. This full-time, day-shift role focuses on supporting mothers with breastfeeding, education, and discharge planning within a compassionate care environment.

The successful candidate will hold an active Washington RN license, BLS and NRP, with IBCLC preferred. You will collaborate with obstetric and pediatric teams to optimize patient outcomes and family support.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Washington RN License upon hire.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association upon hire.
• NRP certification from American Academy of Pediatrics upon hire.
• Minimum 1 year nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Collects pertinent assessment data from patient and team and identifies needs.
• Develops, reviews, and revises care plans with measurable outcomes.
• Evaluates patient response and documents changes in condition.
• Uses the nursing process to teach and document teaching.
• Prepares for discharge/transfer and documents the process.
• Delivers care based on nursing principles and adjusts priorities by acuity.
• Considers patient age in assessment, treatment, and care decisions.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians and coworkers.
• Documents information on chart forms and reports to oncoming shift.
