Job summary

Wyandanch Union Free School District is seeking a Food Service Worker for the 2026-2027 school year. The role supports daily lunch service in a district-wide setting, performing food preparation, serving, cleaning, and basic cash handling under the UPSEU contract.

The candidate should have a High School Diploma and prior food service experience; ServSafe/Manager’s Certificate preferred, with supervision by the School Lunch Manager, Ms. Gabriela Coreas.

Responsibilities

• Set up counter for food service and serve portions from steam tables and pre-measured cups.

• Wash and prepare vegetables; assist cook with food prep.
• Prepare and serve fast-food items as required.
• Clear tables and clean kitchen and dining area.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma, prior food service experience, Suffolk County Food

Manager’s Certificate or ServSafe Certificate preferred and the ability to perform the duties outlined in the UPSEU Contract and the Suffolk County Civil Service job description.

Duties Include but are not limited to:

• Sets up counter for food service
• Serves food portions from steam table containers and from pre-measured cups and other dishes
• Handwash dishes stacks when completed; scrubs pots and other kitchen utensils by hand
• May collect money for school lunches and a la carte items
• Washes and prepares vegetables and assists cook with other food preparation duties
• Prepares and serves fast-food items
• Clears tables and cleans kitchen and dining area
