Job summary

CGS is seeking a PostgreSQL Database Developer to join the Information Technology team in Washington, DC, supporting a data analytics and BI platform for federal customers. You will lead a migration from Oracle to PostgreSQL and manage environments to ensure scalability and performance.

The role emphasizes proactive database administration, documentation, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, within an Agile framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 7+ years experience with PostgreSQL in Linux environments.
• Experience setting up, monitoring, and maintaining PostgreSQL instances.

Responsibilities

• Migrate from Oracle to PostgreSQL, including schema, packages, and views using Ora2Pg.
• Create and maintain technical documentation using templates.
• Collaborate with teams to translate objectives into requirements.
• Ensure database availability and performance with proper resource allocation.
• Perform and assist in database performance tuning.
• Monitor databases for security, downtime reduction, and smooth rollouts/patches/Upgrades.
• Work within an Agile development approach.
