Job summary

The University of Washington's School of Oceanography invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar with a background in morphodynamic modeling to work with Dr. Kendall Valentine on ecogeomorphic marsh models for the Pacific Northwest.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Oceanography, Geology, Earth Sciences, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Coastal Engineering, or related fields.
  • Strong background in numerical modeling and coding (Matlab preferred, Python OK).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate research findings through peer‑reviewed manuscripts and conference presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop idealized ecogeomorphic marsh morphodynamic models (Matlab) for the Pacific Northwest.
  • Conduct fieldwork including sediment coring, elevation surveying, and vegetation sampling; perform model experiments.
  • Publish results in manuscripts and present at conferences; disseminate results for NSF project.
