Job description

Postdoctoral Position – University of Washington

We seek applications for a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Washington School of Oceanography. The postdoc will work in new Department of Energy-funded team exploring how circulation and mixing in estuaries and on the continental shelf might change under future climate scenarios, and will help develop parameterizations to better represent coastal buoyancy sources in global climate models. The initial focus will be on linking realistic ocean hindcasts of Puget Sound and the NE Pacific (the model framework is already developed, see: http://faculty.washington.edu/pmacc/MoSSea /) to global climate model output, working in collaboration with scientists at NCAR and Univ. of Connecticut. The postdoc will work with Dr. Parker MacCready. A Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography or an allied field is required. The full-time position is for one year with the possibility of renewal for a second year given satisfactory performance.
