Postdoctoral Research Scholar position in the NC State College of Engineering, Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) department, Raleigh, NC. The role focuses on transportation research related to human-Autonomous Vehicle (AV) interactions.
The research project will study how human users (drivers or AV users) interact with AVs to investigate problems such as: (1) how human drivers decide whether to cooperate with AVs (e.g., yield or not) and (2) how AV users decide whether to accept cooperation from algorithmic design. The goal is to identify influential factors in human-AV interactions, understand the decision-making process from cognitive and behavioral economics perspectives, and develop strategies to promote human-AV cooperation (e.g., via improved communication design or nudging). A simulator network with multiple connected driving simulators will be utilized.
