Cincinnati Children's is seeking a motivated postdoctoral research fellow to join Dr. Mikedis Nicholson's laboratory in the United States.
The focus is on how post-transcriptional control of mRNA drives spermatogonial stem cell differentiation and meiosis, including DAZL's role in progenitor expansion. The role involves experimental design, data analysis, and contributing to scientific publications and grants.
Primary Location Location S Department DB - Mikedis Shift Day (United States of America) Schedule Full time Weekly Hours 40 FTE 1 Employee Status Regular Dr. Mikedis Nicholson is looking for a motivated candidate to join her laboratory as a postdoctoral research fellow. The laboratory is particularly interested in how the post-transcriptional control of messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) facilitates two distinct stages of development: 1. spermatogonial stem cell differentiation into mitotically dividing progenitors, and 2. progenitors' initiation of meiosis. One of Dr. Mikedis Nicholson's major discoveries is that spermatogonial stem cells require DAZL, an RNA-binding protein, to produce a large progenitor pool. DAZL facilitates progenitor expansion by increasing the translation of its mRNA targets.
Required: PhD/MD or equivalent
