Oak Ridge National Laboratory seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Geochemistry and Interfacial Sciences Group within the Chemical Science Division. The appointee will study the stability of precipitated amorphous materials and their reactivity, collaborating with DOE user facilities such as SNS and APS to advance mineral formation research.

The position emphasizes wet chemistry, neutron and X-ray scattering experiments, data analysis workflows, and dissemination of results

Competenze

• PhD completed within the last 5 years in geosciences, chemistry, materials sciences, material chemistry or related field.
• Experience with synthesis and characterization of minerals or nanomaterials (e.g., Li/Na ion batteries, solid electrolytes, carbonates, REE-related structures).
• Experience in wet chemistry and/or mineralogy is preferred.

Mansioni

• Perform wet chemical experiments.
• Perform neutron and X-ray scattering/spectroscopy experiments for in situ observation of reaction kinetics and mechanisms.
• Analyze neutron and X-ray scattering data and help develop data-analysis workflows.
• Publish scientific papers and present results at national and international meetings.
