Job summary

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) invites PhD students to join the Geochemistry group as a PhD Intern. You will perform benchtop and hydrothermal liquid–rock reactions to study mineral interactions, using Raman, FTIR, XRD, SAXS, DLS, SEM/TEM, AFM, ICP, and related techniques.

You will expand training in Geochemistry, Environmental Science, Materials, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry while contributing to DOE missions on critical minerals and environmental cleanup.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Chemistry, Geochemistry, or Materials Science.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent research and collaborate on team assignments.
• Develop models to interpret hydrothermal liquid–rock data.
• Interact and problem-solve with a diverse team across groups.
• Contribute to publications and reports with strong publication records.
• Present research at technical conferences and program reviews.
