Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois is seeking an early‑career researcher with a strong background in physics, materials science, interfacial chemistry, or geochemistry to join the CSE Division. The role may be filled at Assistant Scientist or Scientist level based on experience.

You will lead experiments using high-brilliance synchrotron radiation, craft novel instrumentation, analyze data, and publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals.

Qualifications

• PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Interfacial Chemistry or Geochemistry.
• Strong knowledge of coherent X-ray scattering and its applications.
• Experience with interfacial materials science and relevant experimental methods.
• Experience with in-situ and operando synchrotron X-ray scattering studies.
• Proficiency in programming and data analysis for experimental interpretation.

Responsabilités

• Lead and contribute to innovative experimental research using high-brilliance synchrotron radiation.
• Design and develop novel experimental apparatus for advanced studies.
• Analyze complex data and communicate findings via publications and conferences.
• Guide and supervise students and graduate researchers; work in a multidisciplinary team.
