The College of Pharmacy is looking for a Postdoctoral Rese arch Associate to serve as a member of the Pharmaceutical Sciences team. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. The successful applicant will bring an expert level of experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine.

What You Need to Know

Salary Range: Starting Salary $50,000.00 to (Based on selected hire's qualifications)

Please note: This position is grant funded; future employment may be contingent upon future funding.

Responsibilities
  • Research and Lab Operations
    • Design and Fabrication: Lead the development and optimization of cardiac patches and injectable biotherapeutics using advanced biomaterials and nanovesicle technologies.
    • Animal Models: Perform microsurgeries and longitudinal studies using small animal models of myocardial infarction or heart failure to evaluate therapeutic outcomes.
    • Data Acquisition: Utilize advanced imaging (e.g., echocardiography, MRI) and histological techniques to analyze cardiac function and tissue remodeling.
    • Documentation & Writing: Summarize results and draft high-quality manuscripts for publication in top-tier journals. Assist in the preparation of technical progress reports for sponsors (e.g., NIH, AHA).
    • Lab Maintenance: Ensure the worksite and specialized equipment (e.g., 3D bioprinters, surgical stations) are prepared, cleaned, and maintained according to safety standards.
  • Mentoring and Leadership
    • Assist, mentor, and supervise PhD/PharmD students and undergraduate researchers working on cardiac repair projects
    • Manage project timelines and ensure team compliance with laboratory protocols
  • Presentations & Dissemination
    • Prepare and deliver presentation materials for departmental seminars and major national/international conferences (e.g., SFB, AHA)
    • Actively participate in the preparation of grant applications and technical reports
  • Professional Development
    • Participate in relevant seminars, workshops, or training to enhance skills
  • Other Duties as Assigned
Qualifications

Required Education

Appropriate PhD in a related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Expertise in cell culture (specifically cardiomyocytes or stem cells) and biomaterial characterization.
  • Proficiency in animal handling and/or surgical techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills for processing physiological and molecular data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for high-impact publishing.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to laboratory safety.
