Job summary

Calibr-Skaggs Institute for Innovative Medicines, a division of Scripps Research, seeks a Postdoctoral Associate in medicinal chemistry to advance early-stage translational research. You will synthesize and characterize small molecules, optimize potency and pharmacokinetics, and contribute to the publication of high-impact results.

The role involves work under a Scripps Research faculty member, with up to five-year appointments and competitive NIH/Calif. salary guidelines.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in chemistry or equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Strong skills and proven track record in synthetic organic chemistry and purification.
• Ability to design and improve synthetic routes to support SAR studies.
• Excellent documentation and collaborative communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct SAR studies to optimize lead compounds.
• Design analogs based on modeling, literature, and medicinal chemistry principles.
• Synthesize and analyze target molecules using organic synthesis techniques.
• Generate drug-like candidates for progression to clinical studies.
