Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute is searching for a
Postdoctoral Fellow to join their team. This is an excitingopportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting andchallenging work environment.
We are seeking creative and energetic
Postdoctoral Fellowthat is to carry out advanced independent and/or directed researchto achieve the objectives of the research project. This positionwill require an in depth knowledge of a specialized field, process,or discipline and may involve organizing and implementing complexresearch plans, the development of methods of research, testing anddata collection, analysis and evaluation, and writing reports whichcontain descriptive, analytical and evaluative content. The purposeof this role is to acquire the professional skills needed to pursuea career path of his or her choosing.
Responsibilities:- Conduct research experiments within the predetermined researchscope and methodology of department and university.
- Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literaturesearch and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyzethe collected data.
- Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and orderingof supplies may be required depending on area and specialty
- Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication inscientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grantwriting.
- Publish research papers; mentor students; help maintainverification toolchains and experimental benchmarks; collaboratewith sponsors and project partners.
- Research on formal verification methods for human detection andperception models used in robotic safety loops.
- Research on runtime assurance, uncertainty monitoring, andevaluation metrics for safe human-aware robot operation.
- A combination of education and relevant experience from whichcomparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
- Other duties as assigned.
