Job summary

RFCUNY invites applications for a full-time Research Associate (Postdoctoral Fellow) at City Tech to conduct grant-supported experiments on light–matter interactions for quantum-information applications. The successful candidate will develop and optically characterize advanced materials and devices, focusing on transition-metal dichalcogenide monolayers and heterostructures.

The position begins September 1, 2026, for up to one year with potential renewal.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree in a related field with demonstrated research ability.
Experience with low-dimensional/quantum materials and nanofabrication.
Experience with optical characterization techniques.
Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary research environment.
Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications and presentations.

Responsibilities

Conduct experimental research on transition-metal dichalcogenide and related quantum materials with emphasis on light–matter interactions for quantum technologies.
Design, fabricate, or integrate material systems and optical or photonic devices.
Develop optical-characterization experiments, including spectroscopy, microscopy, and photon-based measurements.
Analyze data, maintain records, and prepare technical reports on progress and results.
Collaborate with the principal investigator, students, and research partners on multidisciplinary activities.
Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
