Job summary

City Tech invites applications for a full-time Research Associate (Postdoctoral Fellow) to conduct grant-supported experimental research on light-matter interactions for quantum-information and quantum-communication applications.

The successful candidate will develop and optically characterize advanced materials and devices, focusing on transition-metal dichalcogenide monolayers and heterostructures and their interactions with single photons.

Qualifications

• PhD in physics, materials science, electrical engineering, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field with demonstrated research ability.
• Experience in experimental research on low-dimensional or quantum materials (2D materials).
• Proficiency with optical characterization techniques and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Conduct experimental research on transition-metal dichalcogenide and related quantum materials for light-matter applications.
• Design, fabricate, and integrate material systems and optical/photonic devices as needed.
• Develop optical-characterization experiments (spectroscopy, microscopy, photon-based measurements).
• Analyze data, maintain records, and prepare technical reports on progress and results.
• Collaborate with team and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and at conferences.
