Job summary

Colorado State University (CSU) is advancing laser science at the ATLAS facility within ALEPH. A post-doctoral researcher with lasers experience will work on fusion-energy diagnostics and upgrade the ALEPH laser to operational status. Strong optical diagnostics and metrology skills are essential.

The role involves collaboration with the ECE department, mentoring students and contributing to publications while supporting laser subsystems and diagnostics development.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Physics with experience in x-ray diagnostics and lasers.
• Experience in x-ray diagnostics and lasers.
• Preferred: optical diagnostics including high-resolution x-ray imaging and ultrafast lasers.
• Mentoring students and writing papers/presenting at conferences are valued.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on laser-matter interactions and high energy density plasma diagnostics linked to new grants.
• Design, implement, and calibrate optical diagnostics (x-ray and optical metrology).
• Support design and testing of laser subsystems with group members.
• Mentor students and collaborate with ATLAS faculty, postdocs, and graduate assistants.
• Publish papers and present at conferences; participate in project review meetings.
