Job summary

University at Buffalo is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate in the Structural Biology Department for an NIH-funded project led by Prof. Andrew Gulick. The role focuses on protein production, structural biology, and biochemical assay development to explore bacterial natural product biosynthesis.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field.
• Background in protein biochemistry, enzymology, biophysical analysis, or structural biology.
• Ability to analyze, publish, and present research data.
• Self-motivation and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• protein production, purification, and analysis, including development and implementation of biochemical assays
• informatic and genome mining to identify, characterize, and understand the diverse biosynthetic pathways of bacterial sources
• protein structure determination through X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-electron microscopy and single particle analysis
• Data analysis, maintenance, and interpretation, including contributions on authoring publications and dissemination of research
